COMPETITIVE EDGE | FIGURE SKATING TRAINING PROGRAM
What is Competitive Edge?
The Competitive Edge is a program based on the focus of specific technical points and curriculum of basic Jumps, Spins, Power, Dance & Artistry. We currently offer 4 unique classes that hone in on each of these skills, they are as follows:
- Skating Skills: focuses on the agility, endurance, speed, and strength needed to generate maximum energy for dynamic, high-impact skating, while also allowing elements of Artistry, Dance and more to enter into the space to become intertwined.
ex. conditioning, stroking drills, explosive exercises
- Jumps: Jumps class focuses on developing the takeoff, rotation, and landing techniques, as well as the necessary strength, agility, and timing needed to execute jumps with poise and precision.
ex. jump drills, plyometrics, harness work
- Spins: Spins class focuses on the positions and techniques of rotations needed to execute spins with speed, centeredness, and grace.
ex. balance, flexibility, core strength exercises
- Off-Ice: Off-ice training complements on-ice practices and focuses on improving the overall athleticism and physical conditioning needed to execute demanding elements.
ex. cardiovascular workouts, strength training, flexibility exercises, ballet/dance classes
What are the requirements?
Any student that has mastered the Learn To Skate USA Pre-Freeskate level or higher is eligible to participate in this program.
We require that all students take a 4 offered classes, the pricing reflects as follows — $455 for 7 weeks of 2.5 hours of instruction per week, or $75 Day Pass – per Saturday (This fee covers all 4 classes, you must attend all 4.)
Our Classes & Schedule
Our schedule will proceed as follows – the upcoming series will begin on Saturday, September 23rd and run until Saturday, November 4th.
**THERE WILL BE NO CLASS ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 23RD AS WE OBSERVE COBB COUNTY SCHOOLS FALL BREAK
Program Schedule:
8:10 AM to 8:40 AM – Skating Skills
8:40 AM to 9:10 AM – Jumps
9:10 AM to 9:40 AM – Spins
9:50 AM to 10:20 AM – Off-Ice
