Learn to Skate: Hockey 1-4
Before you can score a goal, you need to learn to skate. Designed to teach the fundamentals of hockey skating, our Hockey Basic Learn-to-Skate program will teach future hockey players how to be more be quick, agile, and efficient on the ice. Proper techniques for the game of hockey are the primary focus and all elements are taught without a puck, however, hockey states and a HECC approved hockey helmet are required.
Skaters will learn the basic hockey stance, stride, knee bend, and other necessary fundamentals to be successful. All classes will be well structured with the focus on proper skill development taught in a positive and social environment. Skaters will progress at their own rate and advance after skill mastery is demonstrated.
USA Hockey recommends the use of age and skill appropriate drills to teach the players how to skate and play hockey. It is important for these players to become comfortable on the ice, learn the basic hockey stance, stride, knee bend, and use of edges before moving into a Learn to Play or ADM age-appropriate training.
Upon competition of the Hockey 1-4 levels, skaters will be able to confidently advance to our next-level hockey programs such as Learn to Play and Cross Ice here at the Atlanta Ice House.
Skaters must have completed Snowplow or Basic 1.
